Mary Kaye Waldron

Speech

This tape was made on November 15, 1994, exactly one month before Mary Kaye learned that her experimental treatment was not working, and five months before she died, on April 15, 1995. There is a pause in the tape after Mary Kaye speaks (38 minutes) questions are then asked of her. Below are the questions as they are difficult to hear on the tape.

  1. How was the tumor found?
  2. What have you struggled more with: having your life interrupted and altered, or worrying about dying?
  3. Have you had a lot of close interaction with a lot of other cancer patients to be a support to you?
  4. Is it hard keeping up with your class work?
  5. When do you think you will graduate? The professor asks Mary Kaye to talk about the difficulty of getting around the BC campus as a physically challenged student.
  6. Do you know what you want to do when you graduate?
  7. If you didn't go through all this, but you wouldn't be the same person you are now, would you want to make change?
